Two years of progress: it’s a marathon, not a sprint

Updated: 6 days ago

The Unexpected CEO Blog #5 with Jody Knowles, President and CEO of ScribeConcepts

Reflecting on another year of progress, I consider how far we’ve come.

Two years ago, I was grappling with the unexpected—the loss of my husband, a founder whose vision built ScribeConcepts, and the decision to take on a leadership role I never planned. Two years ago, ScribeConcepts faced uncertainty, and I faced my own doubts.

Today, ScribeConcepts is stronger than ever. The journey has had its challenges. We experienced growing pains and moments of uncertainty. But we learned, adapted, and persevered with every step. This is, in fact, a marathon, not a sprint, and we did not do it alone.

At this time of year, it’s especially nice to express gratitude to the incredible people who joined us on our journey:

First and foremost, I thank our clients. Your trust and willingness to embrace change are the cornerstone of our success. Transitioning leadership is no small feat, and your continued faith in us is deeply appreciated.

Thank you to our consultants, many of whom joined us this year and have driven our remarkable growth. ScribeConcepts thrives due to your hard work, expertise, and dedication. You help build our legacy and chart new paths forward. Your trust in our vision and leadership is vital.

To our staff, I offer my heartfelt gratitude. You have weathered challenges with resilience and grace. Some of you have been with ScribeConcepts since early on, and your loyalty is invaluable. Others joined during this transformative period, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to our mission. You are instrumental to ScribeConcepts’s accomplishments.

I also want to acknowledge those who have contributed and continue to contribute to the foundation of what we’ve built. Your impact is part of our story, and I appreciate everything you’ve done for our growing company:

  • DevelopWell: Your expertise in navigating institutional change and designing tools like our engagement survey significantly fosters future collaboration and growth.

  • Suzanne deJanasz, Pete Niedbala, Peter Rice: Your leadership coaching, mentorship, and insights help shape a new vision for our team and organization.

  • David Rust: As the first General Manager, you ensured the transition was in place until other changes needed to occur.

  • Kate Finnefrock: Your industry expertise and guidance during challenging times have been invaluable. Your words, “I feel lucky to work on things I care about with amazing people like you who are also working to make the world better in all the ways we know how” resonate deeply.

  • To those who have moved on from ScribeConcepts: Your contributions remain integral to our legacy and are deeply appreciated.

Looking ahead, I’m hopeful and excited for what’s next. With the lessons from the past two years as our guide, I’m confident that ScribeConcepts will flourish in the future.

Here’s to success in 2025!

Happy Holidays to all.
