A Message From Our CEO:
I’m excited about going to Austin, Texas. (See related article below.)
I’ve never been to Austin, though I’ve always wanted to. My son’s father is a blues guitar player, and Austin is one of those must-visit places for musicians, so I thought for sure I’d arrive with a SXSW MUSIC multi-day pass in hand. Instead, I’ll be going as a representative of an educational publishing company to the SXSW.EDU conference.
If you’ve ever been to a biz conference, you know it’s intense. You’ve got to network, attend sessions, jot notes, listen to keynote addresses, exchange contact info with so many people(!), shake hands, make small talk, remember to bring trinkets home, purchase books and materials (and try to fit it all in your suitcase), listen to podcasts, attend social gatherings, sleep in a different bed, try to experience a bit of the city you’re visiting … and get up and do it all again the next day.I want to learn as much as the industry will throw at me, so I’m taking this conference especially seriously. I base my CEO decisions on a career founded on believing in people - all people - and their passions. I also believe in potential, and here are some of the programs I plan to absorb in Austin:
“Unraveling Myths About Critical Race Theory in Education”
“Brown at 70: Can Separate Ever Be Equal”
“Designing Systems for the Future: Inclusive Technology Systems”
“Making Emerging Technology Accessible”
“Mentoring Women of Color for Leadership Roles”
“Learning Trends 2024”
“Corrections to Careers: Education for Incarcerated Youth”
“How AI Can Help Teachers Simulate Success”
“Who’s Tracking the Creative Workforce”
“Taking Action for Transgender & Nonbinary Youth”
“Drag Story Hour: A Magical Portal for Change and Advocacy”
“Improving Instruction for Neurodiverse Leaders”
… and that’s all on day one before the 3 p.m. snack break! There are three more days to go!
ScribeConcepts envisions a vibrant future where learning is effortlessly accessible to all. I crafted this vision statement last year, and I keep my commitment to this vision every day by encouraging my own learning. I want to know more about how to improve learning for our ultimate “clients”: the learners and the facilitators of the learning. I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience this in places like the SXSW.EDU conference where I can learn how best to continue that commitment.
Keep an eye out for stories and pictures on social media throughout next week as Kathleen, Natalie, and I keep you updated on this dynamic event.
If you live in the area and want to meet us and say “Hi”, send your info to me (jody.knowles@scribeconcepts.com) and we’ll make it happen.
Thank you for all you continue to do for ScribeConcepts!
2023 Retrospective in Numbers:
2023 was the most prolific year in ScribeConcepts’s 21-year history, announced CEO Jody Knowles recently. Senior Bookkeeper Teresa Hamilton reports that we experienced a 125% growth in revenue from 2022.
In addition to bringing in some brand new clients, including Benchmark, Kiddom, Emerald Education, and CORE Learning, ScribeConcepts took on some of the largest projects ever with Public Consulting Group (PCG), EL Education, and Lavinia Group.
In 2023, we worked on 109 projects for 14 different organizations.
In 2024, we have already lined up 39 projects with 9 different organizations and anticipate another year of growth in revenue by at least 10%.
To accommodate this growth, Scribe hired the following: Director of Content, Director of Editorial, Director of Design, Director of Operations, plus added People & Culture Manager, Project Manager and Executive Editor positions.
Brand Refresh Underway:
We are thrilled to announce that ScribeConcepts is embarking on an exciting journey into the new year with a fresh, dynamic brand identity! As we eagerly step into 2024, we are unveiling a brand refresh that symbolizes our growth and commitment to excellence in educational content creation and publishing services. Our team has been working diligently behind the scenes, and we are now ready to unveil the fruits of our labor.
ScribeConcepts will be welcoming in 2024 with
A Vibrant New Logo: Symbolizing our innovative spirit and commitment to excellence in education publishing.
Refreshed Color Palette: Reflecting our modern approach and the energetic, creative vibe of our company under the leadership of our CEO, Jody Knowles.
An Enhanced Website: Perhaps the most significant change, our website has been meticulously redesigned with two key objectives:
Connecting with Top Talent: With an emphasis on SEO, we aim to be at the forefront of relevant search results, drawing professionals to our dedicated career section as we enhance our growing staff and consultant base. Here, potential candidates will find detailed job listings, information on our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and insights into the career development opportunities we offer.
Streamlining Project Initiation: A standout feature of our website will be its ability to gather essential information from clients right at the onset. This innovative approach is designed to create a smoother workflow, enabling us to tailor our services more efficiently to each project's specific needs.
Attracting and Engaging Clients: The new interface will not only captivate potential clients but also provide them with a comprehensive understanding of our unique services in educational publishing.
Our rebranding goes beyond aesthetics; it's a reflection of our deep-rooted commitment to being at the forefront of educational publishing. This new identity will resonate strongly with our existing and potential clients, helping us forge stronger connections, and deliver unparalleled value.
Refer & Earn:
Get Rewarded with ScribeConcepts’s New Business Referral Program
Scribe has launched a New Business Referral Program to reward Consultants who help our organization make connections with new Clients. These connections should be with someone representing an organization that can benefit from Scribe’s Project Management, Content, Design, Editorial, or Production services. The Client point of contact should be someone with whom the Consultant has a professional relationship.
Here’s how it works.
The Consultant completes the New Business Referral Form to inform Scribe of their intention to begin the process. Complete a separate referral form for each potential Client.
The Consultant emails their point of contact with a potential Client, copying in Scribe’s Director of Business Development Natalie Rebentisch [natalie.rebentisch@scribeconcepts.com]. The email should explain the purpose of the connection, introduce Natalie, and briefly describe Scribe’s services specific to the Client.
Financial rewards will be distributed as follows:
Upon the Consultant connecting the Client and Scribe via email - $25
Upon the Client meeting with Scribe - $50
Upon the Client signing a contract for business with Scribe - $500
Stay tuned for an update on our experience at SXSW
